Service Hour Guidelines
Begin your service requirement in fall quarter and work gradually toward the May 10, 2010 deadline. You must complete 30 service hours, three of which must be for the Alumni Association to renew your Alumni Scholarship. Up to 20 service hours may be performed with a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in LA county.
- Alumni Association Service: Alumni Association service may be completed by volunteering for projects and events produced by AA staff for alumni. All Alumni Association projects take place on the UCLA campus unless noted. Service in leadership positions in the Alumni Scholars Club and Student Alumni Association count as Alumni Association service. Attending ASC Quarterly meetings do not count toward the three-hour Alumni Association minimum.
- UCLA Service: UCLA service may be completed through any UCLA department, service organization or club. The service must not be paid in any way or done for course credit.
- Los Angeles Community Service: Los Angeles community service may be completed through a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Volunteer hours proselytizing religious and partisan political groups are not eligible. The service must be unpaid, charitable and take place within Los Angeles County.
To obtain service credit for your Renewal Scholarship you must log your hours online for each service project you complete. For complete requirements on how to renew your scholarship, visit the Alumni Association's Renewal Website here.
